Every free moment that five-year-old Addie Moon has, she spends watching TV. When her family moves, her favorite show is no longer available, so she searches for a replacement - accidentally stumbling onto Vikings. With the help of subtitles, the series becomes much more exciting. Without them it's just another history lesson in an already overstuffed curriculum! However, when the credits roll on the first episode she realizes something - no one knows what happened after Ragnar Lothbrok died. That's right. After the death of Ragnar Lothbrok. If he's not a part of the story, what is a story? And if a show is missing its central character, why would it be called Vikings? Addie embarks on a quest to find out what happened to Ragnar Lothbrok after his death. With the help of her best friend Cate and her brother Simon, Addie begins to get answers from more movies and TV shows that include his name. They get information from shows like "The Tudors" and "Vikings" but they don't get enough. Addie suspects that the people of Wolf House know more, but it turns out that they don't either. After a few weeks of searching, Addie writes letters to productions companies and from one from the executive of "Vikings" she learns that Ragnar Lothbrok will be back in season 4! Addie's friend Cate then gets an idea that the Vikings didn't really exist, but were just ideas for TV shows and movies. They go to St. Paul's school library to confirm this, where Cate checks out a book about Norse Mythology instead. She learns that there is no self-professed Viking or even Viking Era. But when they look in the World History textbook, they see something much more shocking - when they come back to their time, Vikings do exist, and the year is 793 (year of death of Ragnar Lothbrok). The girls go back to Wolf House to ask for help. The brothers don't know anything about this and send them to talk with their father. Their father finally tells them that he doesn't really know what day it is or remember where he lives and that it's 1989 and not 793. Addie and Cate then begin to piece together what must have happened: someone went back in time, where they heard about Vikings from Addie's favorite TV show, "Vikings". They brought back Ragnar Lothbrok to their time in hopes that the Vikings would be discovered. It's not so crazy, after all - Addie did it too! The book was well received by critics and audiences alike. People like the time travelling part of it, which is very unique compared to other books. Kids like it because it is funny and "cool", while parents like that there are lessons about friendship and teamwork hidden in the book.
